Bio

Sam Burgess is a bassist, composer and producer and has been a member of the Ronnie Scott’s house band for 13 years. He’s also a member of  the Nigel Kennedy and the Voodoo Children band and plays in the West End show Hamilton.

Originally attending Guildhall School of Music, Sam has made a career out of performing and recording, playing electric and double basses.

Sam recently collaborated with Gabrielle (Dreams, Out Of Reach etc), and has one song (“Won’t Back Down”) on her latest album, Under My Skin.

Currently focusing on writing library music, Sam’s jazz album ‘Cyan Skies’ was released to commercial platforms in April 2019 and has three more library music album commissions in 2020.

Sam has recorded and played with many artists including Van Morrison, both of Robbie Williams’ swing albums, the Divine Comedy, the Pet Shop Boys, Sheridan Smith, Gabrielle, Lulu, Wynton Marsellis, Christina Aguilera, Rick Astley, Lisa Stansfield, Skye, Gregory Porter, Imelda May, Tony Momrelle, Andrea Bocelli, A-Ha, Pavarotti, Marty Pellow, Bob James, Carleen Anderson, Guy Chambers, the Pop idol TV and tour, Will Young, Joe Lock, Guy Barker, Gareth Williams, Claire Martin, Clare Teal, Patti Austin and Westlife among a extensive range of credits. His ability to step into any band has seen him in demand in a diverse range of projects playing both upright bass and electric bass.
